Introduction
Marketplace serves as the customer-facing component of the ecosystem. Its primary objective is to streamline the user shopping experience, simplifying the process for our customers.
After conducting thorough research, we identified a common trend across marketplaces: an abundance of unnecessary functions that complicate the user experience.
This initiative originated as an internal project at TechFabric, an outsourcing company, with the aim of providing cost-effective solutions made for the unique needs of B2B businesses.
Research and Discovery
In the research and discovery phase for the web store, we dove into user needs, preferences, and competitor strategies. Using corridor testing approach, we gathered the feedback using competitors services to understand what the pain points were.
During the research there was a place for user journeys, wireframes, brainstormed design ideas, and built prototypes. Ensuring easy navigation, accessibility, and compliance, we refined our design iteratively based on feedback.
the marketplace had to be clean and clear
Problem Statement
01
Time Consumption
Challenge: As a part of already time-shortened system, the marketplace had to be designed immediately.
Solution: We had no time to learn from our mistakes, so the initial part of generating ideas was skipped and we started analyzing using competitors’ marketplaces to save as much time as we could. Every extra thing was skipped until better times.
02
Avoiding Extra Things
Challenge: Understanding the user preferences to build everything needed but nothing more.
Solution: Once again, testing on competitors’ applications saved us a fortune in testing our hypotheses. We decided to postpone the features we were not that sure about to later phases of application development.

Concept and Ideation
The creative process was grounded in extensive research and testing findings. As long as marketplace is a product for everyone, it was good enough to use corridor testing method to gather insights.
User flows were developed based on efficient models identified during previous phase. The team held regular two-hour brainstorming sessions twice a week to discuss the most effective approaches and refine the wireframes rapidly.

Design Process
The same with the Product Management Information Module, the Marketplace had to be built using Carbon design system.
Due to time consumption, the design had to be on its feet in very short period of time, so it was decided to use existing components as much as possible.
But wireframes were crafted for both complex and straightforward user flows. The collaborative effort was significant, involving frequent meeting sessions (on daily basis) and maintaining a continuous feedback loop.

Usability Testing
We conducted usability testing with an involved focus group consisting company employees and interested clients.
The prototypes were thoroughly tested, bringing crucial insights. The testing outcomes led to refinements in key features for the Marketplace such as Comparing List and Filters.

Conclusion
Despite the project being paused due to internal priorities, the testing phase generated positive feedback. Some clients who were a part of a focus group assigned to a waiting list to use an app once it is launched.
Challenges
and Learnings
To tackle the challenge of managing development time, we decided to postpone certain features. This move led to detailed discussions within the team about refining priorities.
As the lead designer, my main goal was to highlight and prioritize the key features for the MVP phase. The main challenge I faced was convincing the leadership team to trust the feedback and statistics we had gathered.
This turned out to be my most significant lesson from the project – not just researching data, but effectively presenting it to the leadership team and getting them to rely on it.
